The Fair and Equal Housing Act of 2017 (H.R. 1447)

In response to The Fair and Equal Housing Act of 2017 (H.R. 1447), Orange County REALTORS® has formally taken a stance to support the bill that amends the Fair Housing Act (FHA) under the Civil Rights Act of 1968 to add sexual orientation and gender identity. This would extend the protections of the FHA to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans.

REALTORS® have long prioritized the dream of homeownership and protection of that dream for everyone. Additional protections were added to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics (Article 10) in January 2011 to extend protections to those in the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender (GLBT) community.
