2017 OCR President
Each one is dedicated to serving the specific needs and interests of our Association’s more than 12,000 members.
Orange County REALTORS® (OCR) could not function without committees! In fact, your Association has twenty-one committees, each one dedicated to serving the specific needs and interests of our more than 12,000 members. Below is a summary of what some of these committees have accomplished recently and are planning on your behalf.
Green Committee members coordinated our fifth annual Shred Day on April 8 in Huntington Beach. This drive-through event attracted 650 cars whose occupants securely disposed of 21,055 pounds of paper. Committee members also coordinated our special Green Day event on April 27 and have scheduled another Shred Day on May 13. We are fast becoming the “Green Leaders” in Orange County and soon will be nationwide!
Global Business Alliance Committee
Because Orange County is one of the fastest-growing areas of global investment, members of our new “Global” committee have established relationships with the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), and are partnering with local cities to promote business conferences sponsored by our members and by local, national, and international global trade associations. In addition, we will be offering the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) Designation courses to our members later this year.
North and South Affiliate Committees
Our active and dedicated Affiliates are coordinating events such as the Golf Tournament on May 8 at Oak Creek Golf Club and the Palooza on June 23 at UCI Aldrich Park. Proceeds from these two events will go to OCAR Cares, our relief fund that helps OCR members in need. Your donations to OCAR Cares are tax-deductible and can be made at any time throughout the year. OCR Affiliates work closely with REALTORS® to provide the wide range of services necessary to complete each real estate transaction, and REALTORS® could not function without them! To find the OCR Affiliates you need as your partners for success, use the Member Directory.
Community Outreach and Volunteer Committee
Members of this committee solicit and coordinate REALTOR® and Affiliate volunteers for projects that have a major impact in our local community. Our enthusiastic volunteers have served meals at Mary’s Kitchen in Orange, helped pack more than ten thousand boxes with nonperishable food items at the OC Food Bank in Garden Grove, and removed invasive plants, trash, and debris from the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. Sign up to learn about future volunteer opportunities. Please get involved!
OCR’s educational program is—without a doubt—the most extensive training program offered nationwide among REALTOR® organizations. Both our new and experienced agents fill these classes each week, and many of them are a free member benefit. Our instructors consistently receive rave reviews. Classes are taught in our Laguna Hills and Fountain Valley auditoriums almost every day. View our class schedule.
Independent Broker Advisory Committee
Approximately 80 percent of our members are licensed with independent brokers (that is, offices with fewer than one hundred agents). The Independent Broker Advisory Committee coordinates regular forums to educate our independent brokers and agents about how to prepare for a visit from the California Bureau of Real Estate, avoid lawsuits, and plan for retirement. The September Forum will feature motivational speaker Terry Watson, who comes from a family of independent brokers.
Our top priority is to provide the most state-of-theart services to you, our members. In return, I ask you to become involved, to serve on our committees, and to volunteer for our ongoing community projects. You can build your business, satisfy your altruistic needs, and make a meaningful contribution to our community— all at the same time. Are you up for it? If you have questions, just pick up your phone and call me, text me, or email me at 949-291-7250 or email@example.com. Your input is very important to me, and I promise a quick (and personal) response.

This is the year for truly validating and promoting our profession. Make me proud of you!
