OCAR is Going Green
What Can Green Do for Your Business?
According to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), "consumer demand for green understanding is growing at a phenomenal rate." In fact, NAR's 2007 Profile of Buyers' Home Features Preferences states, "Home buyers who ranked energy efficiency as 'very important' purchased homes that had a median home price of $12,400 higher than those who ranked it 'somewhat' or 'not important.'"
California leads the way in green initiatives. Are you prepared to meet the demands of green-savvy clients? Use the navigation links on this mini-site to begin your green education.

Green Principles
- Seek to have each transaction create a positive benefit for their clients and aim to give back to their communities and the environment.
- Strive to incorporate sustainability in their business practices.
- Strive to be a resource to other agents and the general public regarding renewable resources, green building, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality.
- Seek to raise awareness among fellow REALTORS® about conducting business in an environmentally sound and beneficial manner.
- Form alliances with knowledgeable and committed green service providers who can further assist their clients.
- Understand that green features alone do not make their listings "green homes." Consequently, REALTORS® should accurately represent a home's green features and enhancements.
- Educate their clients about the value of green principles in creating healthy homes, work places and communities, and a healthy environment.
- Assist their clients in purchasing and/or creating a healthier and more energy-efficient home.
